Award Orb for National Australia Bank
The NAB required an award to be designed for their “Breakthrough” staff business solutions program.
The Brief
NAB was looking for a unique award to recognize staff
who participated in their “Breakthrough” business solutions
program. Previously, staff had been awarded with token items which did
not accurately reflect the importance of this initiative. Arid Zone was
asked to design an award that recognised the importance
of their contribution and could be kept as a memento of
the highly successful program.
The Execution
The “Breakthrough” program used a wave style logo as part of its branding effort. Arid Zone wanted an item that would reflect the branding and provide a keepsake for participating staff members. The award also needed to suit the importance of the program to the NAB. Arid Zone developed a glass orb which met all the requirements of the brief.
- Blown glass was used to create a quality product
- The orb was shaped to reflect the “Breakthrough” logo
- The superior quality of the product meant that staff would keep it as a memento.
The Result
The orb award was exceptionally well received by the NAB. Staff participating in the program actually used the award as a paperweight on their desks. An unexpected spin off from this is that staff members who had not previously participated in the program where motivated to make enquiries as a result of seeing the orb. The orb award project assisted the NAB “Breakthrough program by:
- Accurately representing the program logo with its stylised blue wave shape
- Developing a subtle high art collectable award
- Creating a motivator for staff participants
- Providing a alternative use as a paper weight
- Generating new enquiries for the program
- Winning a Silver APPA award for Australasian made products
